Usage Class

  • Class I: Residential vehicular gate for one- to four-family residences.
  • Class II: Commercial/general access gate for multi-family housing, hotels, retail, or other buildings servicing the public.
  • Class III: Industrial/limited access gate for factories, loading docks, or other non-public locations.
  • Class IV: Restricted access gate for guarded industrial locations such as airport security areas.

UL 325 Entrapment Protection Requirements

A slide gate entrapment zone exists if, at any point during travel, the gap between the gate and any opposing fixed edge or surface, such as posts, walls, pillars, columns, or the operator itself, is less than 16 inches (406 mm) in a location up to 6 feet above grade.

A minimum of two independent monitored entrapment protection devices is required at each entrapment zone. This vehicular slide gate operator will operate only after installation of a minimum of two independent monitored devices in each direction: two in the open direction and two in the close direction. Devices are independent only if they are different types. This operator includes one inherent (built-in) device; the installer must add the others. Acceptable device types are inherent, LiftMaster monitored external photoelectric sensors, and LiftMaster monitored external edge sensors.

Page 4: Safety Installation Information

Gate systems are made up of many component parts, and the operator is only one of them. Installers must account for the hazards of each individual application. For a slide gate, all openings must be guarded or screened from the bottom of the gate to a minimum of 6 feet above the ground so a 2-1/4 inch diameter sphere cannot pass through, both in the gate and in the portion of the adjacent fence that the gate covers in the open position. Exposed pinch points must be eliminated or guarded, including guards for exposed rollers.

Pedestrians must always be provided a separate access opening located so they never come in contact with the vehicular gate during its travel. Permanently mounted access controls must sit at least 6 feet from any moving gate part. A minimum of two warning signs must be installed so each is visible from the side of the gate where it is mounted. Contact sensors should be located where the risk of entrapment exists, such as the leading edge, trailing edge, and post mounted both inside and outside of the gate. Stop and Reset controls must be in the line-of-sight of the gate, and activating the reset control must not cause the operator to start.

Page 5: Gate Construction Information

Gates should be installed according to ASTM F2200. Gates must not fall over more than 45 degrees from vertical if detached from their hardware, must have smooth bottom edges with no protrusions exceeding 0.5 inches, and must not move under gravity alone if the operator is disconnected.

For Class I, II, and III horizontal slide gates: all weight-bearing exposed rollers 8 feet or less above grade must be guarded or covered; all openings must be guarded or screened to prevent a 2-1/4 inch sphere from passing through; the gap between a fixed object nearest the roadway (such as a gate support post) and the gate frame in the fully open or fully closed position must not exceed 2-1/4 inches (other fixed objects more than 16 inches from the gate frame are exempt); positive stops are required at the fully open and fully closed positions; and the gate must have enough lateral stability to enter a receiver guide. Class IV slide gates require guarded rollers and positive stops.

Page 8: Site Preparation

Check national and local building codes before installation. Trench and install conduit before pouring the concrete pad or setting the post; contact underground utility locating companies first, and use UL-approved conduit for low and high voltage. Consider the operator placement before installing the pad or post. Vehicle loops, while not required, are recommended for vehicles 14 feet or longer to keep the gate open while a vehicle blocks its path. Install a warning sign (two provided) on the inside and outside of the property, where easily visible.

Safety catch rollers: install catch rollers with safety covers on the side of a post or wall, with a minimal distance of half an inch between the rollers and the gate. Do not use a gate catch post. Because the coasting distance can change with temperature, a catch post in front of the gate's path may cause the gate to hit the post in certain conditions.

Installation

Page 9 to 10: Types of Installations and Step 1 - Determine Location for Operator

CAUTION: To avoid damaging gas, power, or other underground utility lines, contact underground utility locating companies BEFORE digging more than 18 inches deep. Do NOT touch the heater when its switch is on, because the heater may be hot.

Two layouts are available. In a standard installation, the operator sits near the front roller of the gate. In a rear installation, the operator sits near the back of the gate in the open position. For either layout: lay out the concrete pad, install the electrical conduit, and pour a concrete pad (reinforced concrete is recommended). The drawing shows a pad of 24 inches by 24 inches sitting 6 inches above ground and below the frost line (check all national and local codes), positioned 1 to 2 inches from the gate line. See the official PDF for the full layout drawing.

Page 11: Step 2 - Install the Operator

Attach the operator to the concrete pad with appropriate fasteners; the manual shows four concrete anchors, 1/2 inch by 3-1/2 inch. The operator should be near the front roller of the gate or near the back of the gate (in the open position). The space between the gate and the output sprocket must be a minimum of 4 inches. The mounting footprint measures about 10.3 inches by 10.4 inches. An alternative to a concrete pad is to post mount the operator using the post-mounting plate (Model MPEL), see Accessories.

Page 12: Step 3 - Attach the Chain

DO NOT run the operator until instructed.

Standard Installation

1. Manually open the gate and line up the front bracket so the chain will be level with the idler pulley and parallel to the ground, then weld the front bracket in this position. 2. Manually close the gate and line up the rear bracket the same way, then weld it in place. 3. Route the chain through the operator. 4. Connect the chain to the brackets using the eye bolt hardware; the chain should not be too tight or have excessive slack. 5. Remove the pin from the vent plug on the gear box.

Rear Installation

This layout requires two extra idler pulleys, and all exposed pinch points must be guarded. 1. Move the back pulley to the bottom hole in the operator. 2. Manually close the gate and align the bottom bracket so the chain is level with the bottom idler pulley and parallel to the ground, then weld it. 3. Align the top bracket so the chain is level with the top idler pulley and parallel to the ground, then weld it. 4. Route the chain through the operator. 5. Connect the chain to the brackets with the eye bolt hardware. 6. Remove the pin from the vent plug on the gear box. The idler pulley MUST have a safety cover.

NOTE: The chain should have no more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) of sag for every 10 feet (3 m) of chain length.

Page 13 to 14: Step 4 - Install and Wire Entrapment Protection

WARNING: ALL gate operator systems REQUIRE two independent entrapment protection systems for each entrapment zone. Entrapment protection devices MUST be located to protect in BOTH the open and close gate cycles, between the moving gate and RIGID objects such as posts, walls, pillars, columns, or the operator itself.

Slide gate operators require a minimum of two external monitored entrapment protection devices to function, one in the open direction and one in the close direction. It is the installer's responsibility to make sure ALL entrapment zones are protected, and LiftMaster monitored external devices MUST be used with LiftMaster operators to meet UL325. Test ALL entrapment protection devices after completing installation. Any gap larger than 2-1/4 inches between the gate and fixed objects must be protected; install edge sensors where the gap between the post and the gate creates an entrapment zone.

The control board has dedicated inputs: CLOSE EYES/INTERRUPT for photoelectric sensors in the close direction, CLOSE EDGE for edge sensors in the close direction, and OPEN EYES/EDGE for sensors in the open direction. The expansion board adds EYE ONLY and EYE/EDGE inputs that can be switched to either direction. Only one monitored device may be wired to each input.

Page 15 to 16: Step 5 - Earth Ground Rod and Step 6 - Power Wiring

Install the earth ground rod within 3 feet of the operator using a single, whole piece of wire, never spliced. Improper grounding reduces remote control range and increases susceptibility to lightning and surge damage.

For dual gate applications, power must be connected to each operator, and main power and control wiring must always run in separate conduits. An optional Transformer Kit (Model 3PHCONV) converts 208/240/480/575 Vac input to a 120 Vac output. All control wiring to Class 2 circuits must be Power-Limited Circuit Cable Type CL2, CL2P, CL2R, or CL2X or better. If you use an external receiver, use shielded wire and mount the receiver away from the operator to avoid interference.

Power wiring: 1. Make sure the AC power switch on the operator is OFF. 2. Turn off the AC power at the main breaker. 3. Run the AC power wires to the junction box on the operator. 4. Remove the junction box cover. 5. Connect the green wire to the earth ground rod and AC ground using a wire nut (the earth ground rod can be grounded to the chassis). 6. Connect the white wire to NEUTRAL. 7. Connect the black wire to HOT. 8. Replace the junction box cover without pinching wires. 9. Turn on the AC power at the breaker. 10. Turn on the AC power switch on the operator.

Page 17 to 18: Step 7 - Dual Gate Setup

Dual gate communication is either wired or wireless, never both at once.

Wireless: choose a primary operator and program all wireless accessories to it. Press and release LEARN on the primary (green XMITTER LED lights, 180 second timeout), press LEARN again (yellow NETWORK LED lights), then press the OPEN test button to assign it as network primary. On the second operator, press LEARN twice, then press the CLOSE test button to assign it as network second. Both operators beep and the NETWORK LEDs turn off when successful. To deactivate, press LEARN twice, hold LEARN for 5 seconds until the NETWORK LED blinks and turns off, and repeat on the other operator.

Wired: disconnect ALL power to the operators, trench across the driveway (use PVC conduit), and connect shielded twisted pair cable to the Com Link terminals on each control board (Com Link A to A, B to B), grounding the shield to the chassis ground of one operator, then reconnect all power. 22 AWG cable is rated up to 200 feet; 18 AWG for 200 to 1,000 feet; wire must be rated 30 Volt minimum.

Set the accessories and board configuration on the primary operator, and use the Bipart Delay dial as described in the Control Board Overview and the Dual Gate Settings sections.

Page 18: Step 8 - Install the Cover

Before installing the cover, follow the instructions in the Adjustment section to set the handing and limits. Slide the cover over the operator, align the hole in the cover with the threaded hole in the operator's chassis, and secure the cover with the provided screw. Per the Site Preparation section, install the two provided warning signs where easily visible on the inside and outside of the property.

Adjustment

Page 19: Adjust the Handing and Limits

Never increase force beyond the minimum needed to move the gate, and never use force to compensate for a binding or sticking gate. If one control (force or travel limits) is adjusted, the other may also need adjustment, and the safety reversal system MUST be tested after any adjustment: the gate must reverse on contact with an object. Unlike the DC operators, this AC operator uses mechanical limit switches adjusted with limit nuts or cams, plus a handing setting that tells the control board which way the gate opens. The test buttons will not work until the handing is set. For dual gate applications the limits must be set for each operator, with the gate attached to the operator first.

Set the Handing

OPEN RIGHT is used if the operator is installed on the right side of the driveway when looking out of the property; OPEN LEFT is used if it is on the left. 1. Make sure both the OPEN LEFT and OPEN RIGHT LEDs are flashing; if not, press and hold both handing buttons until both LEDs start to flash and the operator beeps. 2. Press and release either the OPEN RIGHT or OPEN LEFT button depending on which direction the gate should open; the matching handing LED turns solid. To relearn the handing, repeat these steps.

OPEN LEFT LED OPEN RIGHT LED Mode Meaning
Off Off Normal mode Control board not powered
Blinking Blinking Handing setup mode Handing not set
Blinking On Handing setup mode Handing set to the direction of the solid LED
On Blinking Handing setup mode Handing set to the direction of the solid LED
On Off Normal mode Open left handing is set
Off On Normal mode Open right handing is set

Set the Limits

1. Make sure the gate is closed. 2. Press and release the OPEN test button to open the gate. 3. Press the STOP test button when the desired OPEN limit is reached, then adjust the limit nut or cam so it contacts the OPEN limit switch at this position; if the gate stops early, move the nut or cam to allow more travel. 4. Press and release the CLOSE test button to close the gate. 5. Press STOP when the desired CLOSE limit is reached and adjust the limit nut or cam to contact the CLOSE limit switch. For slide gates, make sure the gate moves at least four feet between the open and close limits.

Set the Force and Run Distance

1. Press the OPEN test button to open the gate. 2. Press and release both the OPEN LEFT and OPEN RIGHT handing buttons. 3. Press the handing button below the solid LED. 4. Run the operator through one full cycle using the test buttons; the initial forces and run distance are set during this cycle.

Page 20: Readjust the Limits, Fine Tune the Force, and Obstruction Test

Readjust the limits: follow the Set the Limits and Set the Force and Run Distance steps again. It is important that the force and run distance are set after every limit readjustment.

Fine tune the force: the REVERSAL FORCE dial is set to minimum at the factory. Settings 1 to 3 are fixed forces that do not adjust for gate wear or temperature; settings 4 to 10 automatically increase force to compensate for wear or temperature changes. The force should be high enough that the gate will not reverse by itself or cause nuisance interruptions, but low enough to prevent serious injury. If the gate stops or reverses before reaching a limit, turn the dial slightly clockwise.

Obstruction test: 1. Open and close the gate with the TEST buttons and confirm it stops at the correct limits. 2. Place an object between the open gate and a rigid structure, without triggering any external entrapment device. 3. Run the gate in the close direction; it should stop and reverse on contact. If it does not, turn the force dial slightly counterclockwise. 4. Repeat the test in the open direction. Test the operator after any adjustment.

Operator & Control Board Overview

Page 21: Operator Overview

The operator includes a dust guard, antenna, control board, expansion board, accessory power outlet, AC power switch (turns the incoming 120 Vac power on or off), junction box, limit switches, cover, and the manual release handle and reset button. The manual also shows the 1 HP operator variant, which uses a different drive belt (see Repair Parts).

Manual release handle: pull the handle to manually open and close the gate. Use it only when the gate is not moving.

Reset button: pressing it stops a moving gate like a stop button; pressing it once while the gate is open disables the Timer-to-Close so the gate stays open (press it again or use a programmed remote to restart); and pressing it shuts off the alarm and resets the operator.

Page 22 to 24: Control Board Overview

Learn button: used for programming remotes and the wireless network. Diagnostic display: shows the operator type, firmware version, and codes. It displays "SL" followed by "30" for the SL3000UL, then the firmware version.

Handing buttons: determine which direction the gate opens and are also used to set the limits and force. OPEN RIGHT is for an operator on the right side of the drive when looking out of the property (a slide gate slides to the right when opening); OPEN LEFT is for the left side. For gates installed on the outside of the property, the setting is opposite, so determine the direction by looking toward the property from the outside.

Bipart delay: used in dual gate applications where a maglock, solenoid lock, or decorative overlay requires one gate to close before the other, or where one gate travels farther. The operator with the dial set to a delay (2 to 8 seconds) delays from the close limit when opening and is the first to close from the open limit. Both OFF or both ON has no effect.

Timer-to-Close (TTC): factory set to OFF (0) and adjustable from 0 to 180 seconds. At 0 the gate stays open until the operator receives another command. Any radio command, single button control, or CLOSE command on the control board before the TTC expires closes the gate, and any signal from the open controls, loops, close edges, and close photoelectric sensors resets the TTC.

Reversal force dial: settings 1 to 3 are fixed, 4 to 10 automatically compensate for wear or temperature. Test buttons: operate OPEN, STOP, and CLOSE and are also used to view the code history.

Status LED State Meaning
Input power Off / On Off state / AC power available
Timer Off / On / 1 blink per second / 2 blinks per second / 8 blinks per second Timer disabled / enabled / running / paused / canceled
Gate moving Off / On / 1 blink per second / 8 blinks per second Gate stopped / opening or closing / E1 (single entrapment) / E2 (double entrapment)
ACC PWR OVLD Off / On Accessory power OK / accessory overload protector opened

Accessory Wiring

Page 25 to 26: Control Station, Fire Department, Loops, Sensors, and Locks

All control wiring to Class 2 circuits must be Power-Limited Circuit Cable Type CL2, CL2P, CL2R, or CL2X or better.

Three-button control station: OPEN and COMM is a hard open that opens a closed gate, opens a closing gate, and holds an open gate (within line of sight). CLOSE and COMM is a hard close, and STOP and COMM is a hard stop that overrides open and close commands; maintained switches override external safeties and reset an alarm condition within line of sight. Fire department: the FIRE DEPT and OPEN terminals act as a hard open; a maintained input overrides external safeties and pauses the Timer-to-Close, while a momentary input works like single button control with safeties active.

Loops: EXIT is a soft open command for exit probes, telephone entry, or exit loop detectors. SHADOW holds the gate open at the limit when a loop is positioned under the gate and is only active at the OPEN limit. INTERRUPT holds the gate open and reverses a closing gate when a photoelectric sensor or loop sits outside the gate, and activates quick close and anti-tailgate features when enabled on the expansion board.

Photoelectric and edge sensors: at least two external monitored entrapment protection devices are required before the gate will move, one in the open and one in the close direction, and only one monitored device may be connected to each input. CLOSE EYES/INTERRUPT is for close-direction photoelectric sensors (the gate opens fully on an obstruction); CLOSE EDGE is for close-direction edge sensors; OPEN EYES/EDGE is for open-direction sensors (the gate reverses for 4 seconds then stops). Locks: the NC and COM output is a normally-closed relay for maglocks that activates before and during motor run. Accessory power provides 24 Vdc at 500 mA max.

Expansion Board

Page 27 to 30: Expansion Board Overview, Auxiliary Relays, Wiring Accessories, and SAMS

CAUTION: To avoid damaging the circuit board, relays, or accessories, DO NOT connect more than 42 Vdc (32 Vac) to the AUX relay contact terminal blocks.

The expansion board has plug-in loop detector inputs for the Shadow, Interrupt, and Exit loops (model LOOPDETLM), a wireless edge input for kit LMWEKITU, EYES/EDGE terminals, and control station terminals. Its switches are: EXIT FAIL (OPEN opens the gate and holds it open if the plug-in exit loop detector detects a fault; CLOSE ignores the fault), AC FAIL (not used on this model), ANTI TAIL (OFF reverses a closing gate when the Close Eyes/Interrupt loop is activated; ON pauses it until the vehicle clears), and QUICK CLOSE (ON closes an opening or stopped gate when the Close Eyes/Interrupt loop clears, ignoring the Timer-to-Close).

Two auxiliary relays offer Class 2 low voltage contacts (42 Vdc / 34 Vac, 5 Amps max) set by 3-position dipswitches: Open Limit Switch (use with SAMS), Close Limit Switch, Gate Motion, Pre-Motion Delay (energizes 3 seconds before motion), Tamper (energizes if the gate is pushed off the close limit), and Cycle Quantity Feedback, where the 1, 2, and 3 LEDs blink out the stored cycle count. The Power setting is not used on this model. A red light on Aux Relay 1 and a green light on Aux Relay 2 can show gate state.

The expansion board also accepts EYE ONLY and EYE/EDGE entrapment protection inputs (open or close direction set by a nearby switch), a control station (SBC, OPN, CLS, STP with common), and the three loop inputs, which behave like their main-board counterparts. SAMS (Sequenced Access Management System) wiring connects Aux Relay 1, with dipswitches set to 1-OFF, 2-OFF, 3-ON, to the barrier arm operator and to the operator's Exit and Shadow inputs as shown in the manual's diagram. The Field Wiring page of the manual shows every board terminal in one diagram; see the official PDF.

Programming

Page 32: Programming Remote Controls

Up to 50 Security+ 2.0® remotes or KPW250 keypads, plus 2 keyless entries, can be stored in memory. When a third keyless entry is programmed, the first is erased; when memory is full, the operator exits programming mode and the memory must be erased before adding more. To program a remote, press and release the LEARN button (the green XMITTER LED lights and the operator beeps), then press the remote button to program within 30 seconds. Three programming options exist: single button as open only (press OPEN, then the remote button), single button as open/close/stop, or three separate buttons for open, close, and stop. If you install an 86LM antenna extension, do not straighten the antenna.

Page 33: Internet Gateway, CPO, Gate Hold Open, and Erase Codes

The LiftMaster Internet Gateway pairs through an online account at myliftmaster.com after connecting it to a router and powering it on. The gateway stays in learn mode for three minutes; press the LEARN button twice on the primary operator, or with the gate closed give an OPEN command and, within 30 seconds at the open limit, press the reset button three times to enter High Band Learn Mode. The operator beeps when pairing succeeds.

Constant Pressure Override (CPO) is for use with KPW5 and KPW250 keypads. It temporarily bypasses a faulted entrapment protection device: enter a valid 4-digit PIN, then press and hold # for 5 seconds and keep holding to keep the gate moving. Use it only in direct line of sight with no obstructions. The Gate Hold Open feature disables the timer and keeps the gate at the open limit using the reset button or a keypad PIN while the timer is running; re-enter the PIN or activate a hard input or programmed remote to restart.

To erase all remote codes: press LEARN, then press and hold it again for about 6 seconds until the XMITTER LED flashes. To remove and erase monitored entrapment protection devices: disconnect the device wires, press OPEN LEFT and OPEN RIGHT together (the handing LED stays solid and the other begins flashing), then press both again to exit.

Settings

Page 34 to 35: Gate Operator Setup Examples and Dual Gate Settings

Setup examples cover four site types: Residential (1 to 4 homes), Commercial/General Access (a community of more than four homes), Commercial (security-focused business site), and Industrial (large site requiring security). Quick Close is normally OFF except at industrial sites, where it is ON so the gate closes immediately after a vehicle passes the Close Eyes/Interrupt loop. Anti-Tail is OFF for residential and general access sites and ON for commercial and industrial sites. The Fire Dept input is typically used for general access sites with a Knox box or similar. An optional heater (Models HTRNB and HTR460) keeps the gearbox warm below -4°F, with the thermostat set between 45°F and 60°F.

For dual gate installations, set all accessories and board configurations on the primary operator. Per the Dual Gate Settings table: Timer-to-Close is set on the primary and OFF on the secondary; Bipart Delay is set to a delay on the primary (it opens last and closes first) and OFF on the secondary (it opens first and closes last), with Tandem Mode OFF on both; Quick Close and Anti-Tail are ON for the primary and OFF for the secondary; remote controls 1 to 50 are programmed to the primary and 51 to 100 to the secondary; and the Internet Gateway and Garage and Gate Monitor are programmed to the primary.

Notes: severe or high-cycle use needs more frequent checks. Limits may have to be reset after any major drive chain adjustment. If lubricating the chain, use only lithium spray. Never use grease or silicone spray. Verify with a digital voltmeter that incoming voltage is within ten percent of the operator's rating. Over time the chain will stretch; to tighten it, adjust either of the two chain eye bolts, keeping sag to no more than 1 inch for every 10 feet of chain. This AC operator has no batteries to maintain.

Common Questions

What is the difference between the SL3000501UL and the SL3000101UL?

Both are covered by the same LiftMaster installation manual under the SL3000UL name. The SL3000501UL is the 1/2 HP model, rated for gates up to 1,000 lbs. The SL3000101UL is the 1 HP model, rated for gates up to 2,000 lbs. Both handle 4 to 52 feet of travel at up to 1 foot per second and are approved for Class I, II, III, and IV vehicular slide gate applications.

Does the LiftMaster SL3000UL have a battery backup?

No. The SL3000UL is an AC-only operator. No batteries come in the carton, the AC FAIL switch on the expansion board is not used, and the manual lists only a 120 Vac supply. If power is lost, the gate will not run until power is restored, but it can be moved by hand using the manual release handle.

How many entrapment protection devices does the SL3000UL need?

A slide gate operator must have a minimum of two independent monitored entrapment protection devices in each direction, two in the open direction and two in the close direction. The SL3000UL has one built-in device, so you must add at least one external photoelectric sensor or edge sensor for each entrapment zone, and the operator will not run unless one external device is connected in each direction.

What is diagnostic code 60 on a LiftMaster SL3000UL?

Code 60 means the minimum number of monitored entrapment protection devices is not installed. Slide gate operators require a minimum of two external safety devices, one in the close direction and one in the open direction.

How do I set the handing on a LiftMaster SL3000UL?

Make sure both the OPEN LEFT and OPEN RIGHT LEDs are flashing. If they are not, press and hold both handing buttons until they flash and the operator beeps. Then press and release either the OPEN RIGHT or OPEN LEFT button. Use OPEN RIGHT if the operator is on the right side of the driveway when looking out of the property, and OPEN LEFT if it is on the left. The matching LED turns solid when the handing is set.

How do I set the limits on a LiftMaster SL3000UL?

With the gate closed, press the OPEN test button, press STOP at the desired open position, and adjust the limit nut or cam so it contacts the open limit switch there. Then press CLOSE, press STOP at the desired close position, and adjust the limit nut or cam to contact the close limit switch. Finish by setting the force and run distance with one full cycle. The open and close limits must be at least four feet apart.

How do I tighten and lubricate the SL3000UL drive chain?

To tighten the chain, adjust either of the two chain eye bolts. The chain should have no more than 1 inch of sag for every 10 feet of chain, and the limits may need to be reset after any major chain adjustment. Check the chain and sprockets for slack and lubricate them monthly, using only lithium spray and never grease or silicone spray.

How do I manually move the SL3000UL gate when the power is out?

Pull the manual release handle on the operator to manually open and close the gate. Use the manual release only when the gate is not moving, and check that it works as part of the six-month maintenance routine.

What does diagnostic code 95 mean on the SL3000UL?

Code 95 means the AC motor failed to start. If the gate and motor are not moving or are moving too slowly, check for an obstructed gate, binding in the mechanism, and the relay board and start capacitor connections. If the gate and motor are moving, the failure is likely a lost encoder signal, so check the encoder cup, the sensor on the limit shaft, and the wiring.

What do diagnostic codes 55, 56, 57, and 58 mean on the SL3000UL?

Code 55 is a system AC overvoltage, so call the utility, and code 56 is a system AC undervoltage, so check the wiring and wire gauge to the operator. Code 57 is a limit error from a stuck switch, so check the switch and harness for shorts and replace the switch if it is defective. Code 58 is a limit error from the wrong switch, so check the motor wiring.
