Norton Door Controls has created a door control line to provide reliability and superior performance. It was created in 1880 by Lewis C. Norton, where it started marketing and creating the first commercial door closer. 

Even though the first door closer was a tad cumbersome, they were effective and allowed for an adjustment of a door’s sweep speed. 

In its later years, the rack and pinion closer was refined. It soon developed a valve-controlled backcheck to be used for hydraulic door closers. Since then, there have been additional innovative products that include narrow style, non-handed closers, speed adjustments, adjustable backcheck, and special application arms. 

Its door closers provide a traditional surface, overhead concealed, industrial economy, commercial, and architectural grade door closers. To complement its line, it provides a range of arms for maximum protection. 

• Mechanical closers generate a constant, smooth control of the door when opening and closing. 
• Cam action closers provide higher efficiency over rack/pinion closers offering lower opening resistance. 
• Overhead concealed closer, which is when closers are required but need to be concealed in the frame header. 
• Electromagnetic closers were created with safety at the forefront. SafeZone incorporates electromagnetic closers along with programmable motion sensors. 
• Low energy operators have a sweeping set of intelligent functions like latch assist, obstruction detection, and power close.
