IDP has improved the technology needed for card printing for enhanced security and reliability.
Proximity cards are the latest innovation in contactless card technology and revolutionize keyless door entry. These cards can access doors without you having to insert the actual card into the reader device. These cards contain critical codes and information that require the work of reliable printers, such as those provided by IDP.
IDP is an industry leader in card printer technology, manufacturing quality card printers, encoders, and software. They are one of the pioneers in ID card printing and have been around since 2005.
IDP understands the need for high-quality products that incorporate mechanical, electronic, and software technology for keyless entry. It engineers precision printers, laminators, and portable card printers for various business needs.
IDP Cards
Proximity cards are the type of contactless card entry used for mass and distance card reading applications. Card users do not necessarily need to produce the physical card because the data stored in them is detected by the reader when it comes within a certain range. You only need to bring it close to at most three inches of the reader for scanning.
The prox cards are used mostly in crowded places and also serve as security, identification, ticketing, toll and other applications.
Prox cards need to be robust to preserve their physical form and virtual information. So, IDP worked to produce prox cards that meet these standards. These cards are manufactured with the highest standards, which also help optimize the life of the printer.
IDP cards are also produced to standard ISO CR80 specifications or standard credit card size. IDP cards are available in PVC proximity cards, PVC white cards, and composite white cards.
Retransfer Printer
Proximity cards are printed using a retransfer printer or reverse printer like the IDP Smart-81 ID Card Printer.
Retransfer printers use ink ribbon and film where the ink is printed into the reverse side of the film. The film is laid and heated into the cards to transfer the design in a full bleed or print that covers the entire surface of the card.
Unlike the direct printing process, retransfer printers are slower. However, IDP breaks this stereotype by producing innovative retransfer printers that print in just seconds. The innovative Rapid Retransfer Printing technology, or RRP, is the fastest ready-to-print metric in the industry.
The Smart-81 ID printer of IDP can print color and mono double-sided proximity cards in 43 seconds. The result is glossy and high-resolution cards that comply with the International Banking Issuance Security Standards.
Retransfer printers use composite cards because of the heat applied during the process. Standard PVC cards cannot withstand heat and tend to warp and bend the surface.
