Led by its founder, Marianne Cowell, this women-owned business is inspired to protect K-12 schools and houses of worship. Marianne, a mother of five herself, understands parents’ concern for the safety of their children in schools. With the life-threatening danger brought about by gun violence, there is an urgency to protect innocent lives from unnecessary trouble and distressing situations.

Along with other team members, Mayday Security Solutions was tapped by Ballistic Barrier Products to distribute its LifeShield+ products to different schools across the United States. These products are manufactured in Johnson City, Tennessee, making them USA-made.

Knowing LifeShield+ Products

LifeShield+ Products are bullet-resistant. They have a UL752 Level 3 Certification, which ensures good protection from handgun rounds. This is the highest standard UL (Underwriter Labs) where the products are expected to perform.

In one of these informal tests, LifeShield+ withstands 200 rounds of 9mm ammunition without any damage or penetration through the fabric. It is made with DuPont Kevlar para-aramid fiber, which is custom woven and is similar to the ones used in military and law enforcement anti-ballistic body armor.

LifeShield+ Windows are ballistic window coverings that come in various styles. These are custom-made to fit in any interior and exterior applications. They come in three different forms.

• The curtain style is mounted on a rod and has a weighted bottom. It slides in both directions for convenience and efficient bullet-resistant window protection.

• The motorized window shade, as the name suggests, operates with a motor that allows the user to raise and lower the shade remotely.

• The non-motorized window shade operates by pulling the chain to raise or lower the cover.

LifeShield+ Doors are bullet-resistant door panels. They prevent bullet penetration from handguns and weigh only 23 lbs.

LifeShield+ Entryways serve as 1st line defense protection as it protects the entryway from intruders. They can delay possible threats by blocking an intruder’s line of sight, and they can also be operated remotely.
