Different brands offer different sensing methods as well. LiftMaster gate operators, for example, are known for their proprietary monitoring methods. For this reason, only LiftMaster sensing edges can be used with LiftMaster gate operators.

Monitored gate opener safety edges follow the UL 325 safety standard. These are the set rules and regulations for ensuring the safe function of all automatic operations, such as garage doors, automatic gates, exterior awnings, and windows.
