History Built on Passion

In 1964, inspired by treasured experiences on African safaris, Neale Perkins founded Safariland in his California garage. His focus on crafting high-quality holsters resonated with customers, and the company rapidly grew. Safariland's products, known for their durability and efficiency, often utilized materials like nylon and high-end leather. Throughout the following decades, Safariland continuously pushed boundaries such as introducing commercially available body armor for law enforcement in the 70's for the LAPD, and achieved the first industry-leading ISO 9001 certification.

Safariland’s reputation for excellence attracted the attention of Armor Holdings, Inc. in 1999. This acquisition fueled further growth, allowing Safariland to acquire many respected brands in the public safety equipment market. In 2007, BAE Systems acquired Armor Holdings, and The Safariland Group was then formed to encompass 19 world-class brands under one roof.
