The brand takes pride in its story of how they were conceived – through Breakstone’s personal experience while serving in Northern Italy during World War II and observing the workers of his family’s dairy business.

Through these experiences, Mr. Breakstone crafted RefrigiWear products to make sure that workers feel warmth while working. Along with his brother-in-law, Mortimer Malden, they started the RefrigiWear Clothing Company in Manhattan, New York.

The company’s headquarters moved a few times until they finally settled at their current location in Dahlonega, Georgia, in 1991.

Currently, the brand has expanded its international presence by being a non-resident importer to Canada and partnering with international distributors in countries such as France, Japan, Singapore, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Spain, among others.
