Total control of your property equates to security and peace of mind. What gives you that sense of authority is being able to monitor your property around the clock. With access control systems that safeguard your entryway consistently, you can.
Access Control and Its Components
Access control is a type of security that sets boundaries for those able to access certain resources. They authenticate users by verifying the presented login credentials and access privileges to prevent unauthorized access.
Different components make up an access control security system. These are the gate lock, gate access reader, gate access controller, gate opener, access credentials, and software. The gate locks can be magnetic or electric and are attached to the gate to prevent them from being opened unless it receives a signal from the controller.
Gate access readers are access points that can include a keypad reader, biometric scanner, or other devices that read the credentials being presented for authentication. The gate access controller receives the signal from the reader and scans the access control list for access rights. The gate opener or operator is the part of the access control system that physically opens and closes the door or gate upon the signal of the controller.
Access credentials are the keys that are presented to the reader. They are available as a physical key, key fob and card, PIN, code, remote access, biometrics, telephone access, or a mobile credential.
Access management software is responsible for the overall control of how the access control model functions. It is managed and configured by the administrator and tracks all gate activities, including unsuccessful attempts at entry and authentication.
Access Control Credentials
In door, garage, and gate openers, physical access controls can be in the form of keys, fobs, or PINs. The access control method can also be a digital configuration or data and software permission. Logical access point controls are further divided into different models: mandatory, discretionary, rule based access control, and role-based.
In mandatory access control, an administrator has the sole authority to grant access privileges, rights, and permissions. With discretionary access control, members of the organization have access to the location or resources. These members can grant the same to other people at the owner’s discretion.
Role based access control management models enable access to users based on their position. Rule-based access control is restrictive, where doors and gates become accessible only at a particular time. Administrators can grant or deny access based on certain rules like the location of the user, time, and device used.
Fortify With Access Control Systems
As we have learned, door and gate security systems can be accessed using some kind of access control mechanism. Again, access controls can be in the form of PINs and keypads or can be telephone or intercom-based, or RFID-like fobs or cellular access. These can be used individually or jointly for multi-factor authentication for physical security and data security.
Whatever your access control and security needs are, All Security Equipment has got your back with a gate security system that suits your building needs. Just consider the physical aspect of your property and the access control model you need and find them here at ASE.
